Prepare for Flu Season with Prevention Resources

It’s more important than ever before that we prepare for flu season, especially since the COVID-19 pandemic still is a serious issue. Child Care Aware® of America has released a suite of new resources designed to help Child Care Resource and Referral (CCR&R) agencies respond to and prepare child care providers and families for the flu.

Resources include:

  • Flu and COVID-19 Professional Development Support PowerPoint deck for CCR&Rs to use in trainings for child care providers
  • A microwebinar recording discussing the importance of flu prevention in child care programs, presented by: Nicole Garro, Director of Early Childhood Health Programs at CCAoA; Dr. Pam Shaw, Medical Director of the Neis Clinical Skills Lab in Kansas City; Dr. Amy Shriver, general pediatrician at Blank Children’s Pediatric Clinic and Assistant Professor of Specialty Medicine at Des Moines University. Dr. Shriver is a member of the AAP Council on Early Childhood executive committee.
  • Differences between Flu and COVID-19 crosswalk including a symptom checklist for the flu and the coronavirus
  • A step-by-step decision tree on What to Do If a Child Becomes Sick at Child Care
  • A robust guide about Flu Prevention during the COVID-19 Pandemic and more.
SEE ALL FLU PREPAREDNESS RESOURCES

We hope you’ll take advantage of these resource and join Emergency Child Care & Technical Assistance Center Program Manager Crystal Givens on Instagram Live along with CCAoA Director of Early Childhood Health Programs Nicole Garro on Wednesday, Oct. 8 at 1 p.m. EDT to find out what you need to know about child care and the flu immunization. Ask questions and get answers! Follow us at @childcareawareusa.
